Greetings, everyone!After much delay and unexplained away time, I come here to pitch a small competition to the Madballs community. This is something that we've been working on for quite some time and has recently come to fruition!
The competition involves creating some sort of video about Babo: Invasion. This can range from hilarious machinima sketches, to a seriously awesome video that represents what the game stands for. There are (mostly!) no limits to what you can create and upload as your video entry.
Judging Details- You (or your group) will be tasked with uploading your video to YouTube before the creation deadline. We request that you tag your uploaded video with "madballs" and (optional) "video contest" so that your videos may be found more easily.
- Once the deadline has been reached, we will create a poll on our forums containing every single fan-made submission.
- There will be one vote per user.
- The top ten entries will be sent to the Playbrains development team for final judging (assuming we receive such a response from the event!)
The Rules- You may enter the contest as many times as you like. If you see someone's video posted after yours is made and you want to do one better, make another one & upload it! Once the competition is over, you will be tasked with choosing which video (assuming you made more than one video) to submit to the polls.
- Collaboration is allowed. Please note that there is only one prize per group or participant.
- Your video may not contain any vulgar or inappropriate material.
- Any entries submitted after the final deadline will be saved for the next round of judging, and we will run the competition again at a later date.
- You may use any recording and editing software.
- As previously stated, any genre of Madballs video is welcomed!
- Please obtain permission from the appropriate copyright holder before using any third party music or effects.
How to EnterAll you need to do is contact me (either via private or instant message) or leave a post in this thread detailing your interest! I'll add you to an entrants list to track the progress of your submission.

DeadlinesWe're expecting to give you a good month or so for the capturing and editing process, however due to the news years rush to get back to work/college/school, we'll be giving you a total of
TWO MONTHS to complete your submission.
The overall deadline for video entry & creation is:
May 3rd, 2010Judging will be a week or so to make sure each video is given the appropriate time for viewing by the community. Prizes will be announced when we recieve them from the Playbrains development team for distribution! Please note that if we receive
all submissions before the
final deadline, we will begin the voting phase early.
Prizes- First place: $1000
- Second place: $500
- Third place: $350
- Fourth place: $200
- Fifth place: $100
All prizes are courtesy of the Playbrains development team! Please note that if there are legal/other issues preventing you from receiving your prize, you will be offered an equivalent voucher or gift certificate.
General Filming Tips- Entering "set cl_enableHud false" into the console will disable the in-game HUD for unobscured shots.
- Fraps is advised for raw video recording.
- There are many free video editing suites out there, one of which you probably already have on your computer! Windows Movie Maker is your basic video editing tool. Every windows user should have it!
- Virtualdub is an excellent tool for compressing raw video and basic editing.
- Don't be afraid to use Google to find a few tutorials based around your chosen editing suite!
- Animate your babo with with F5 and F6 keys! Perfect for making your balls talk!
- Need a free-cam mode? Open up the console, and type "set cl_enableSpectatorCam true". Change 'true' to 'false' to disable the camera!
